Rose Cousinswith special guest John Paul White
Massey Hall presents
JUNO Award-winning and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Rose Cousins brings her forthcoming album Bravado (out February 21, 2020 via Outside Music) to the Danforth Music Hall this winter.
Bravado is the sound of a heart trying to open. It explores the complication of emotion, its irrational tendencies and its wisdom. It invites us to feel the courage it takes to be vulnerable. For Cousins, this album marks a chapter of personal and professional metamorphosis. She is in the producer chair, applying her years of experience, trusting her own ear and pulling thoughtfully from her network of talented colleagues.
John Paul White has cultivated his career in Nashville for two decades, first as a songwriter for a major publisher, then as half of The Civil Wars – a groundbreaking duo that won four Grammy Awards before disbanding in 2012. Because The Civil Wars were so hard to categorize, White has earned a fanbase among indie rock listeners, folk audiences, Americana outlets and AAA radio.
“Cousins has a disarmingly fluid vocal tone and an ability to convey the most internalized emotions — disappointment, grief, resolve, forbearance — without an ounce of fuss.”
