Live Nation presents
Thanks to Searching for Sugar Man, the Oscar-winning documentary following his unlikely path from hardscrabble existence to rock-stardom, Sixto Rodriguez has enjoyed a late-career renown in North America that escaped the Detroit-based singer-songwriter and self-taught guitar player for the bulk of his life. Unbeknownst to him until a handful of diehard South African fans tracked him down in the late ‘90s, Rodriguez’s two studio albums – which went unnoticed in the United States – enjoyed popularity in Australia, New Zealand and especially Apartheid-era South Africa. As a result, the ultimate rock-and-roll story unfolded, culminating in a hero’s welcome in South African stadiums. He’s since been touring extensively around the world, and his two albums, Cold Fact and Coming From Reality, were re-released on Light in the Attic records.
